Porsche First Saturday: Panamera Launch, Courage Changes Everything
This past Saturday at Porsche Southpoint we were pleased to introduce the all new 2017 Panamera. Before the unveiling, members of the Porsche Car Club joined our Porsche Southpoint staff for pancakes and breakfast. While the Panamera stole the show, another significant cause for celebration was the fact that Porsche Southpoint was awarded Porsche Premiere Dealer.
Mr. Robert Ingram, former CEO and chairman of Glaxco/Wellcome and current general partner at Hatteras Venture Partners, spoke in honor of the Panamera launch. He expressed the idea that courage changes everything. To illustrate that point, he told the story of when he met with a Porsche senior executive in the late 1990s and was told that Porsche would depart from its sports car only path and begin building SUV and sedans. Mr Ingram was shocked by this revelation, having at this point been a long-time Porsche collector. Throughout their conversation, it became apparent that for Porsche to survive in the global market, it had to make products to appeal to different niches. By taking that courageous step Porsche was able to thrive during that time and offer some of its most exciting cars during our time- 911 GT3 and 918 Spider.
The all new 2017 Panamera is a courageous decision that changes everything again with unparalleled comfort for four, exquisite good looks, and enough power to go from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds. While not too terribly long ago, the idea of a Porsche Sedan would be heresy it now showcases Porsche’s most advanced technologies.
