Porsche is currently basking in the glory of their newest super car to hit the track. Equal in importance to the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona is one of the most prestigious endurance race events in the world. The Porsche GT Team was ready for the season-opening round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship and the legendary Porsche driving team unveiled the Porsche 911 GT3 R at the event. The team took home a hard-won 2nd place trophy, second only to the Ford GT which won by a very narrow margin. The exceptional team of drivers included Patrick Pilet (France), Dirk Werner (Germany) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France); Pilet, the driver behind the wheel in the last turn stated "I'm never happy with second…I'm proud of the world the guys did our first time out…I was glad I was able to maintain second for Porsche." We feel confident that there are many first place trophies in the Porsche Racing Team's future; in the meantime, get in touch with the racer in you behind the wheel of one of the finest sports cars on the road today; Porsche Southpoint invites you to visit our dealership to test drive any of our new Porsche models or to explore our exceptional inventory of previously owned Porsche models.Well worth the smiles.
