As a part of the Chapel Hill Community,
Porsche Southpoint employees volunteered their time this past week to delivering meals with other volunteers from Meals on Wheels Chapel Hill-Carrboro.  Hot meals were delivered to approximately 12-13 homes and the route took about an hour and a half to two hours.  Our employees had so many wonderful things to say about their delivery experience.

Performance employee Helen Allen stated, delivering meals and being a part of the Meals on Wheels experience this week, truly touched her heart and Performance employee Chris Johnston said his experience delivering food was truly heartwarming.

As author of this blog and Meals On Wheels volunteer this week, I just want to express that the volunteers & staff for Meals on Wheels are some of the kindest friendliest people I’ve met in a while.  They make you feel comfortable and know so much about the recipients of the meals.  Some of the folks invite you in and want to talk because you are the only person they’ve seen all day, and will be the only person they see in a month.  Each person who answered their door expressed so much gratitude for our delivery.  Many of the volunteers like Janet Smith and Belinda Musso have been volunteering with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels for 7+ years.  These are the true heros in our world.

More About Meals on Wheels

“The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels program has served the community for almost 40 years. They provide a hot nutritious meals and personals visit Monday through Friday to more than 180 recipients in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and southern Orange County who are unable to prepare meals for themselves due to age, illness, disability or convalescence in order to improve their health, reduce their isolation and help them maintain independent living. Nutritionally approved meals are prepared by K&W Cafeteria and supplemented with fruit, milk, and desserts made by a “Baking Brigade” of volunteers.
