Porsche Southpoint wants to make sure that you and everyone else in Chapel Hill, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, and the rest of the Triangle Area know that we consider you part of our family. It doesn’t matter if you’ve bought a new or pre-owned vehicle from us, or if you’ve never used our Service Department, we feel that our entire community is family. Almost everyone wants their family to be safe this holiday season, and we are not any different. Here are a few tips to help keep you and your family safe.
Shopping: Don’t shop alone. Criminals sometimes like to target those who are by themselves. There is safety in numbers, so invite a family member or a friend to go along with you. It’ll give you a chance to spend some quality time with those who are close to you.
Home deliveries: Not everyone likes getting out in the crowded malls and waiting in long lines. Shopping online has become a popular trend for both consumers and those wishing to take away your holiday cheer. Before you finalize your order, make sure you have an idea when your package could be delivered, and see if you’ll be able to be home around the time of delivery. If you can’t, look into having the presents sent to a nearby family member’s house, or someone that you trust, who you know will be home. Your package has a lot less of a chance to be stolen.
Decorations: Holiday decorations are always beautiful to look at, but they can be hazardous if not displayed correctly. Check your lights for tears and broken bulbs. Also ensure the lights you use outside are designed for outside use. A good rain could lead to disaster if it mixed with electricity. If you use a real tree in your house, make sure you keep it watered and away from open flames. Water helps keep the tree from drying out faster. If there is an open flame next to a dry tree, your house could catch fire.
Trash: Watching your garbage may seem like a silly idea, but it can be a clear sign to the world what gifts you may have received during the holidays. Take the time to break down the big cardboard boxes and either take them to a recycling facility, or throw them away in a black trash bag. Leaving boxes out can tell potential thieves what electronics you received and could give them motivation to break in.
These are just a few tips to help with the holidays. For some this time of year is very stressful, and we hope that this may help take a bit of stress off. Keep in contact with everyone you know, and make sure they are not having a difficult time this holiday season. A simple phone call can change the outlook someone has on life.
We also want you to know that we’re here for any of your parts, service, or accessories needs during the holidays.
