This year, the Porche 911 is giving the German automaker a great reason to celebrate. After its debut in 1963, this flagship model will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary of being able to grace the streets of the greater Chapel Hill area and beyond.
Rather than limiting the celebration to just one single event, Porsche is planning to pack this year with a variety of different events. The celebrating begins at the Retro Classics automobile show that takes place in Stuttgart, Germany from March 7th to the 10th. Special exhibits will be on display at the Porsche Museum during this time that include an early 911 Turbo Coupe model, 1981 concept model of the 911 Cabriolet, a 1997 911 GTI and a Type 754 T7 model. Porsche enthusiasts will most definitely be in their glory.
To continue the celebration, the museum will feature an exhibition called "50 years of the Porsche 911." Chronicling the development of such an iconic model, this special exhibit will run from June 4th through September 29th. Spectators will be able to see the sports car develop into the model we have come to know and love the most at the Performance Porsche dealership.
Of course there can never be too much celebrating to ensure the proper tribute is made. With that being said, enthusiasts can also keep their eyes on the lookout for a 1967 Porsche 911 which will be going on a world tour. Various events will display the model including the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
