What transmission will the 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 feature? That's one question on our mind here at Performance Porsche. The high-performance Porsche 911 GT3 is currently being tested and few official details have been released thus far. That, however, hasn't stopped us from searching the web for information about its development.
We have we found there are 2 interesting tidbits of information that stuck out to us, and we're sure you'll find them equally intriguing. First: Porsche appears to have moved up the engine in the 2013 911 GT3 for improved handling. Second: The choice of transmission in the next-gen sports car has been narrowed down to two options.
On one end, the company knows what a thrill driving with a manual transmission is, especially in a sports car as fierce as the 911 GT3. On the other hand, however, the German automaker has also developed its own advanced automatic transmission that features a manual mode, officially dubbed PDK (Porsche Doppelkuppling).
Both are excellent choices. While one provides a feeling of complete control, the other is more easily accessible (and has also been proven to be more fuel efficient).
So which one will Porsche choose?
The fact that both are being actively tested leads us to believe that the company may offer both in the end (even if officials are stills saying only one will make it into production). Perhaps, a manual transmission will be standard fare, while a PDK transmission will be an available option? Only time will tell; but you're invited to let us know what you think in the meantime.
