Knowing that there is a rather large number of enthusiasts here in the United States, German automaker, Porsche has decided to construct a new headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. This way, the company is more readily available to address the needs of its growing driver base and gain a more accurate read on the U.S. market.
Performance Porsche first heard this news roughly a year and a half ago, and saying we were excited about it would be an understatement. Unfortunately, details regarding construction of the new facility have been scarce ever since the initial announcement.
Of course, we didn't exactly expect construction to begin the very next day either. Porsche has selected a rather historic spot for its new headquarters to reside: the location of an automotive plant that used to belong to an iconic American automaker. That said, the company has been working on getting the name of the old plant's road changed from "Henry Ford II Ave/South Central Ave" to "Ferdinand Porsche Avenue."
The City of Atlanta notes that there is an application on files to change the street's name. Meanwhile a Porsche representative has confirmed that a groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place at the plant in the near future.
Now that the gears seem to be moving in the development of the new Porsche headquarters, Performance Porsche will post any developments to this blog. That, however, won't distract us from doing what we do best: offering drivers from the greater Chapel Hill area a superb selection of new Porsche models at 1810 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd..
