The Porsche 911...if you don't drive it, you've heard of it. There are, after all, 11 different models to the name. Well, something we always knew about the 911, just became fact. That is, in addition to being a sexy, speed-happy work of art that know how to handle the road like a champion fighter does his opponent, it's extremely reliable.

Indeed, an organization called Technischer Uberwachungverei (TUV) just awarded the Porsche 911 a golden trophy for reliability within the segment of cars aged ten to eleven years. The number of complaints TUV found for the Porsche 911 rate at just 9.5 percent.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Ford KA received a complaint rate of nearly 37 percent. But that would really be comparing apples to forgotten-about lemons wouldn't it?

How did TUV determine which vehicle was worthy for such a distinction? A lot of research and analysis. And, we do mean a lot! You can think of TUV as Germany's Consumer Reports. Only more than collect consumers' opinions, they're job is to test and retest cars. We're talking hands-on inspections with real-life screwdrivers and wrenches. The TUV - they get down and dirty. And for 2011, the organization performed well over seven-and-a-half million auto inspections - more than enough data to accurately determine the winner, we'd say. Perhaps that's why, when it comes to quality indicators, the TUV-Report is the most coveted report in all of Germany.
