The newest installment of the Porsche Boxster has been revealed and we must say that this car is amazing. This automotive wonder can be found with an open-top and like its predecessors seats two. The new lightweight body makes this car stand out along with its overhauled chassis. The new Boxster has a few new features. It comes with lighter weight, longer wheelbase, a wider track, larger wheels and a new electro-mechanical power steering system. The performance of the new Boxster has improved by a decent margin and this car is surprisingly more fuel-efficient, the fuel efficiency is up by 15%.
Here are some more specifics on the new Boxster:
"The Porsche Boxster and Boxster S are both powered by flat-6 engines with direct petrol injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop function. The new Boxster delivers 265 hp (195 kW) from a 2.7-litre engine (+10hp), and the new Boxster S delivers 315 hp (232 kW) from a 3.4-litre engine (+5hp than before). Both models feature a manual 6-speed gearbox or a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission. Both sports cars achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration performance with the PDK. The Porsche Boxster's fuel consumption with PDK is 7.7 l/100 km and 8.0 l/100 km for the Boxster S. The Boxster takes 5.7 seconds to sprint from 0-100km/h, the Boxster S in 5.0 seconds."
On top of all of this, the Porsche can be purchased with the Sport Chrono Package that enhances the vehicles driving dynamics even further. Last but not least the Boxster has something new inside, it has Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock.
The
market launch of the new Boxster generation will be on April of this
year. The base model will have an MSRP of $49,500 for the manual
transmission and $52,700 for the PDK (dual clutch gearbox), while the S
model will be priced at $60,900 and $64,100.
