It used to be impossible to find a Porsche Cayenne from Performance Porsche in Chapel Hill. But that will soon change with the Cayenne Diesel heading to US dealers, though it won't arrive in showrooms until September. It will be priced at $55,750, between base Cayenne and Cayenne S variants.
The Cayenne Diesel reaches an estimated 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway. Cayenne Diesel is also good for 740 miles on a single tank of fuel.
In terms of power, this model will have a 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel engine standard, producing 240 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. That's 37 lb-ft more than Cayenne S, 111 lb-ft more than base Cayenne. This Diesel variant also pulls a massive 7,716-lb tow capacity.
"Porsche states the top speed of the Cayenne Diesel to be 135 mph, 7 mph short of the base Cayenne's top speed. But the Diesel gets to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, three-tenths of a second quicker than the eight-speed Tiptronic S gasoline V-6 version."1
