Porsche is taking car art in a new direction. Instead of dressing up the car itself, Porsche is working to stylize the hood. In doing so they aren't just changing their emblem, Porsche is allowing artists to submit works of art to be featured on the hood of the Porsche 911.
Featured in the Porsche Museum in Struttgart, Germany, the "Colección Goméz" features South American artists works of art on the hoods of Porsche vehicles. Artists include Pablo Atchugarry, Rogelio Polesello, and Jorge Ferreyra Basso. Of course, each of their works are different and should certainly be viewed while they are available at the museum.
The Exhibition runs from September 20th, 2011 until January 8th, 2012. There are a total of 24 colorful Porsche 911 bonnets on display from 19 of South America's most talented artists, including Pablo Atchugarry, Rogelio Polesello, and Jorge Ferreyra Basso, and each one took a different approach to unleashing their artistic style on the unconventional canvas before them.
Fellow artists and enthusiasts alike may be interested in the materials used to spice up the Porsche hoods. The South American artists used everything from enamel, to tire rubber to complete their projects. Due to the variety of materials used every Porsche hood is extremely different.
The art shows was dreamed up by Jorge Gómez, an art fan and obvious Porsche fanatic. Even more exciting for Gómez, and drivers who spot him on the road, is that he has been seen driving the works of arts on the road! Now he has unlimited options for "hood ornaments" and will likely always be driving the most talked about Porsche 911.
Of course, Performance Porsche, located at 1810 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd, Chapel Hill, NC 27707, already considers every new Porsche on the road today to be a finely crafted work of art.
