The 2012 Porsche 911 GT3, first launched by Porsche in 1999, is the purest 911, selling almost 15,000 since it was first released with a sporadic availability . Porsche develop the 911 GT3 in a successful attempt to respond to all claims that the 911 had "gone soft." The 911 GT3 is a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2-passenger, 2-door coupe that can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, hitting a top speed of 193 mph.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is lighter and more powerful than the 3.8. The 2012 Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 get a higher-flow air filter, a modified intake manifold with shorter runners and a less-restrictive exhaust. These modifications increase the horsepower from 450 to 500 and torque from 317 lb-ft to 339.

The GT3 RS 4.0 has virtually perfect handling, power steering and braking. The hood, front fenders and seats are carbon fiber. For added lightness, buyers have the option to opt out of the standard radio and/or air conditioning. All 600 of the GT3 RS 4.0 have already been sold unfortunately, so any hopes of owning this $185,950 model in 2012 will likely be crushed, for now.
