Pictures of the 2012 Porsche 911 leaked yesterday, showing that the new 911 will be 2.5 inches longer and has a 4.0-inch longer wheelbase. This is likely so the 911 will be capable of accommodating a hybrid system similar to that of the Panamera. The 2012 Porsche 911 is expected to make its first appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September of this year.
The interior is expected to mimic the Panamera's, which is welcomed addition, to say the least. Most interesting is that the latest 911 will be offered with a ZF 7-speed manual gearbox and the ZF dual-clutch 7-speed PDK.
The sportiest version, the Carrera S, is powered by a 3.8-liter version of the flat-six with direct injection producing 400 horsepower at 7,200 rpm. The new 911 is also expected to be more eco-friendly, consuming 12 to 15 percent less fuel than the current models.
