The Record-Setting Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

If you're one of the many drivers in the Duluth and Atlanta areas who thinks that a hybrid car can never truly be a sports car--and vice versa--then you haven't met the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

This summer, Porsche engineers sent Lars Kern, a Porsche Test and Development Driver (talk about a dream job), to six different FIA-approved race tracks all over the world, to put the 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid to the test on some truly challenging courses, in some brutal weather.

After cleanly netting 5/5 lap records, Kern and the Turbo S E-Hybrid arrived at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar, with eyes set on an even 6 out of 6 benchmarks.

Unsurprisingly, the feat was accomplished, even in sweltering, 100-degree weather with swirling sand. That sixth lap success gave the 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid the distinct honor of claiming the title of fastest luxury four-door hybrid sedan in the world.

About the 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

The stunning Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid boasts a standard 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired to an electric motor, with the combined system making an incredible 680 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque.

Broken down, that's 550 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque from the engine, and 136 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is rated for 49 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) and can cruise for 14 miles on pure electric power alone. It can reach a top track speed of 192 mph, and can sprint from 0 - 60 in just 3.2 seconds. All-wheel drive comes standard.

This unique kind of efficiency, balanced with legendary Porsche power and performance, make the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid one of the most versatile and exciting models in the lineup.
